I revamped my LinkedIn

As part of my personal rebranding mission, the next item on my to-do list was to update my LinkedIn.

LinkedIn has always been a weird space for me. I think it stems from my inability to celebrate my achievements, but it’s also the way people turn the smallest wins into something huge, the obvious into something profound - like we used to say, “buying face.”

I took some time to scroll and observe how people in the industry were using the platform, and how I could show up in a way that felt authentic. While it still feels odd at times, I did find people sharing meaningful reflections and not just humblebrags. I reconnected with familiar names and faces, saw what they’ve been working on, and even came across opportunities I would’ve missed because I usually curate my internet spaces based on personal interests, not professional ones.

After my little LinkedIn binge, I decided to show up as myself. I started sharing parts of my journey and speaking about my mission to reimagine creative services in Namibia. I took some new photos (shout out to my sister Michelle), posted an introduction, and followed up with posts about Beso Media and the projects we’re running. So far, so good.

If you’re building a personal brand, I recommend doing the same - even if it feels awkward at first, like it did for me.

Why bother with LinkedIn?

If your goal is to build a career, expand your network, or simply keep up with what’s happening in the professional world, having a presence there will pay off over time.

I revived mine because the things I want to do for the creative industry need funding, support, and visibility to grow. Becoming a thought leader in my space means I’ll have a better shot at meeting the right people - decision makers who can help me turn these ideas into real, impactful work.

Anyway, if you’re on there or any other platform, let’s connect! (Click icons below)
